Pushpin (or pin poking) activity is one of the popular fine motor activities in the Montessori classroom. I would like to share with you different ways to utilise pins and pin poking which greatly benefit the kid's development. Yous will discover that pins are often used in activities for unlike purposes.
Pin activities
– assistance develop deeper concentration
– set for writing
– enjoyed by children
– exercise patience and attending to detail
– assistance perfect fine motor
– strengthen finger muscles
There are many variations of pin poking activitiedue south.
– The metal inset extension activity – the child pivot pokes the shape after tracing a metal inset shape.
– The continent puzzle map extension activity – the child pin pokes continent outline after tracing a continent.
– Pin poke a picture show outline.
Hither are a few examples introducing pin activity to children:
TODDLER
This activity as you tin encounter requires continuous developed supervision and tin can't be left on a shelf as the kid can hands hurt themselves if the materials are not used correctly.
I use giant push pins that are piece of cake for fiddling fingers to grasp and shape images with thick outlines.
PRESCHOOLER
Print picture outline on regular newspaper or construction paper, cut cards to match your button pivot mat size. Place cards in a box on a tray along with a button pin or the Montessori puncher, corkboard or wool mat, and construction newspaper cards to match the size of your push pin cards.
Invite the child to punch holes on the line and accept him or her to the window to look through the light and make certain the holes are close together. Show them how to separate punched shape from the rest of the paper carefully without wrapping newspaper, get a glue stick, and glue it to the construction paper. The kid may also like to colour the shape first.
As I mentioned earlier children often enjoy pin poking continents of the world subsequently working with the Montessori Continent Knob Puzzle. Still, this tin be washed with every puzzle that has knobs. Puzzle pieces with knobs arrive easier for children to trace outlines.
